Let’s get to know our colleague Claudiu Pintilie better: directly from Romania, he will tell us about his transition from Back-end Development to the fantastic world of Data, precisely in the Data, AI and Machine Learning Engineering department of Bitrock.
Can you explain your position and skills required to excel?
I’m still early in my career, having moved from the Back-End Engineering team to the Data, AI and Machine Learning team a few months ago. As such, I’m still discovering all aspects of my role, but I’ve already realised that problem solving and cross-functional thinking are two of the key skills you need to master if you want to work with data.
How is your relationship with colleagues?
I have a very good relationship with my colleagues, and not just on a professional level: in fact, there is a mutual interest in getting to know each other better and discovering common interests. Even though we work remotely, we take every opportunity to tell each other something about our lives: how we spent the weekend, sharing a personal achievement or asking for advice, like friends. I also strive to build and maintain good relationships with corporate clients so that I can better understand and respond to their needs.
What is the most significant achievement in your career?
My greatest professional satisfaction has been the profitable transition of my role from Software Engineering to Data Engineering, with excellent feedback from managers and customers right from the start.
What do you like most about your job?
The aspect I like most, especially compared to the role of a Back-end Engineer, is the holistic view that my job allows. Working with data allows me to take a broader view of the whole project.
What’s your favorite way to relax and unwind after a busy week?
First of all, I have to admit that I am an avid gamer; I am also passionate about 3D printing, so I love designing and printing objects. I also like to travel and discover new places whenever possible.
What’s your go-to song for boosting productivity?
Difficult question… I usually listen to pop songs, both international and lately Italian. If I have to choose one song, it’s “Il Mago” by Mudimbi.
Who is a source of inspiration or guidance for you?
I had and still have the opportunity to be part of a great company and team, and my reference in the company is my manager. Outside of work, I really like the craziness of Elon Musk.
What would you recommend to someone who wants to follow a career path similar to yours?
Familiarity with databases and the ability to find ways of processing data in a way that is useful to the client are essential to entering this field. It is also important to have good self-learning skills, as many tools and instruments do not have specific tutorials.
Thanks to Claudiu Pintilie, Data Engineer at Bitrock, for this interview.
